My Favorite Spring Fonts + Fun Springtime Doodles

Happy Monday! This past weekend was spent painting all afternoon {both days} with my older girl while the little one napped. It was so fun to get back into painting and drawing - I even came up with a few illustrations that will be working their way into invitations very soon. Details to come on that. In the meantime, since I will be designing some spring-like invitations and stationery, I've started thinking about the fonts I will pair with my illustrations. For me, spring is the time for delicate and elegant fonts and those that are fun and lightweight so they flow smoothly from one letter to the next. And, with that - here are my favorite fonts for any of your upcoming springtime parties {plus, some pretty and cute doodles/dingbat fonts}. What font{s} are your favorite{s}?

Fonts: 1. Aire, $20 | 2. April Rain  $16 | 3. Carlino  $17
4. Kids Scipt, $32 | 5. Send Flowers, $24.95 | 6. Showcase, $40

Doodles: 7. Dainty, $49 | 8. Just Flower Pots, $29

Spring Wedding Flowers : ideas for bouquets and floral arrangements

For many wedding florists and floral designers, I'm thinking you may have heard of The Chapel Designers {an international network of florists and event designers} that was created by Holly of Holly Heider Chapple Flowers. The Chapel Designers is a group of amazing floral designers from across the country and each of these designers "focus on getting you to the chapel with a full bouquet in hand". To help with today's post, Holly got in touch with her team of floral experts and several of them delivered the most gorgeous spring blooms to my inbox, even Holly sent along some of her designs whose style has become called "hollyish" - I LOVE THAT! Come enjoy the spring colors and beautiful floral creations {oh, and you'll likely want to pin away, which of course is totally ok} . . .

Do you see that ring bearer pillow made out of yellow cushion mums? Don't you just love this? The flowers for the bouquets include: creme de la creme roses, blue hydrangea, green pittsporum, yellow stock, akito roses, and euforia roses.

The white bouquet features some of my favorite flowers - peonies and ranunculus which I find to be super romantic. The complete list of florals include: David Austin Patience roses, white hydrangea, milky way roses, white majolika spray roses, white peonies, white ranunculus, white freesia, and white lisianthus. The bouquet on the right features white stock, pink/white variegated lisianthus, and garnet glow callas.

My Favorite Spring Wedding Cakes

Well, it's supposed to be spring . . . but we still have snow on the ground here. Although, I have heard from others on twitter that they have started wearing flip flops where they are. This gives me hope that warmer weather will be here someday. In the meantime, I've rounded up some of my favorite spring wedding cakes today. I just love the soft delicate florals and uniqueness of the cakes including the round cake layer atop ruffles, the naked cake and the pavlova. Which cake{s} are your favorite?

Unique Spring Ideas : Decorating with Vegetables

When I came across these ideas on Better Homes and Gardens the other day I couldn't wait to share them with you. They are so unique and SUPER clever. I love the idea of decorating with vegetables.

Radish Tied to a Napkin: Simply fold a radish or even a carrot in to a napkin and tie the bundle together with twine for a rustic look or a ribbon of your choice for a more elegant look.

Brussel Sprout Topiary: Start with a 15" foam cone and fill a soup tureen, vase or planter with foam. Then pin or hot glue the cone to the foam base. Use long T-shape pins to attach the brussel sprouts to the foam cone - start at the bottom and the pin the sprouts as close together as you can. Any open areas can be filled with sphagum moss. You can also add more moss around the base of each cone. Unrefrigerated, these topiaries will last several days to a week.

Vegetable Lined Floral Vases: Carrots and lettuce look so unique when arranged around the inside of a wide vase. To keep them propped up - simply place a smaller vase inside the larger one and line the veggies in between.

Soft & Romantic Melon : a Springtime Wedding Inspiration Board

So happy to welcome Laura {a monthly contributor} of Eye Candy Event Details to the blog today with her gorgeous inspiration for the spring season. And, just like previous months, Laura shares with us beautiful details for each photo so you can easily implement the elements into your event. For the inspiration board this month Laura writes . . . Happy Spring! Weddings in the spring are so beautiful because I think the color choices are so abundant to choose from. Soft pastels are always a win-win and the pops of color we get from all the blooming colors of the season. But what about going with a current color trend? As most of you probably already know, tangerine is the HOT color for the year, but what if it's a little too much color for you? Simple. Just try a 'softer' or muted shade of the ever-popular color . . . a nice soft, romantic melon. I personally LOVE this color & really believe it can be paired up with some amazing accent colors as well. How about a melon & grey color scheme? Or pair melon with yellow & a soft pink? The possibilities with this shade are endless & make for a beautiful color palette.

1. Make sure to set the tone for your spring wedding with an eye-popping fun invitation. This one comes with confetti as part of the design & pairs up with grey & a few of the softer pastel shades to make for an exceptional invite to one amazing party.

2. This gorgeous dress is a perfect choice for your bridesmaids as it compliments this season so well with it's sleeveless floor length style.

3. Mini cakes are becoming a popular trend & when combined with ruffled icing - you just can't go wrong! These would be a stunning addition to your display. Have your baker make several smaller mini cakes & design them in different shades of your color to get that 'ombre' look across your dessert buffet.

4. Choose a wedding cake design that can stand alone. This one is amazing with the simple ruffled edges & the melon flowers in two different shades to create a gorgeous work of art.

5. Outdoor spring weddings are the perfect time to use these beautiful parasols - especially these with the flower design on the top. How sweet of a photo is this? . . .  having the flower girls carry them - priceless!

6. "Words" are still a very popular addition to wedding décor. This wedding sign that spells out 'cake' is the perfect shade of melon & would make a great accent on the cake table.

7. Amazing flowers will give you amazing photos. These are no exception with the gorgeous shades of melon accented with grey tones makes this bouquet stand out.

8. Shoes! Shoes! Shoes! These shoes are GORGEOUS. This pair deserves to be shown in ALL of your photos. If you find shoes as fabulous as this, make sure to get the on film.

9. Wedding favors are a great way to get creative. Send your guests home with a cute favor bag full of marshmallows. They are growing in popularity & are available in so many flavors & colors now.

10. Dress your man in a soft grey suit & pair with a tie to match your spring color palette. We like this one with the subtle pattern of the dots - gives it a lot of character.

11. Looking for a different alternative for the dessert bar? Spring is the perfect time of year to try out an old fashioned sno-cone station. Have a variety of flavors ready to go for your guests to try.

12. Sometimes planning where to place the menu at a gorgeous table setting can be tricky. I love this idea of putting the menu hanging off the table but securing it down with the dinner plate. Functional & beautiful.

13. Designing a focal point for the center of your table just got easy with these beautiful flowers in the white & pastel blue vases. Simple yet stunning.

14. The perfect gift for your bridesmaids will always be jewelry. They will love these gemstone earrings & love wearing them again even after the wedding.

Much love to Laura for joining us today with this beautiful inspiration for spring. Please be sure visit the Eye Candy Event Details site and the Eye Candy Event Details Design Shop. Comment
