Timeless Southern Beauty : Outdoor Wedding Themes for Fall Weddings

Today I have the last of the 5 great outdoor wedding themes for fall weddings {which are ideal for summer weddings too}. Here's the other four wedding themes in case you missed any . . .
1. Farm to Table Chic Wedding
2. Residential Ballroom
3. Rugged Mountains and Flip Flops
4. Residential Ballroom

Williams Ski and Patio has collaborated with wedding planners and photographers who have designed the most amazing outdoor wedding themes. Today's theme is a Timeless Southern Beauty wedding design from Sarah Darcy, Editor at Classic Bride.

When asked about this wedding design, here is what Sarah said . . .

What are the planning/design elements characteristic of the theme?
The most important part of planning was choosing our outdoor venue. I wanted somewhere that had history and was already beautiful all on its own - I didn't want to have to "create" a space. We chose Mary Mahoney's French House on the Mississippi Gulf Coast - one of the oldest French settlements in the area. It just oozed Southern Charm and looked like it was transplanted from the New Orleans French Quarter. The courtyard was lush and inviting and I immediately knew that's where I wanted to get married. Once we had decided on the venue, the design elements were so easy to choose. We went with the colors already in place at the venue (creamy white with natural greens) and it worked to create a seamlessly beautiful palette for our wedding.

How can people planning their own wedding incorporate some element of the theme into their own outdoor wedding?
My biggest advice has and always will be to find a venue that speaks to your heart. Don't settle on a country club unless it's a family legacy and means a tremendous deal to you. Find a place brimming with character and beauty that reflects your personalities. It will be soooo much easier to work with. And, if you're wanting a timeless look for an outdoor venue, go with a natural and neutral color palette like we did for our wedding. I love limiting the palette to two colors - it keeps things simple and cohesive. A few of my favorites are navy and white; natural greens and white; black and white (hello, blacktie!); and marigold and navy (which can be trickier but is beautiful when done well).
