An Intimate Rustic Barn Wedding at Home In Utah from Pepper Nix Photography
Today's real wedding of Jen and Paul is definitely going down as one of my favorites. Along with the amazing photos from Pepper Nix Photography, this blue and yellow wedding was intimate with under 100 guests and took place at home. The bride's parents home actually, among 160 acres of aspen trees in Utah. The couple married in an Aspen Grove and the reception was held at their neighbor's "barn". Everything was either made or designed by the bride and her mother.

Jen and Paul opted for a first look and here's what the bride wrote: "We did do a first look. Mostly, we were influenced by the timing of the ceremony. Given the time of year, we wanted to have the ceremony during the warmest and least windy part of the day on the ranch which was 4 PM. This did not give us much time to do pictures prior to the reception dinner at 6 PM and we wanted to reserve the time we did have for family photos and make sure that our time together for photos was not rushed. I love having a picture of the way he looked when he saw me in my dress for the 1st time. I have never felt more beautiful."

Wildflowers were used at Jen and Paul's wedding to fit the setting. Aspen logs were carved out and used as planters to fill with an assortment of colorful flowers and shepherds hooks were used to hold flowers that lined the aisle. The tables at the reception were an assortment of wooden ranch tables of different shapes and sizes with burlap runners and vintage bottles of wildflowers scattered about. Table numbers were made of moss and my favorite part was the napkins that were cornflower blue bandanans. The wedding cake was a round, 2 tier cake with white frosting and cornflower blue aspen leaves. The flavor? Lemon poppyseed.

Plan Your Dream Vermont Destination Wedding at Riverside Farm

Are you looking to have an unforgettable destination wedding?
Would you like to have a rustic yet beautifully elegant wedding?
Maybe an outdoor wedding set amongst the most picturesque, lush green mountains as your backdrop?
How about celebrating your marriage at a reception in an authentically restored barn, yet with all the modern amenities you'd need?

Riverside Farm in Vermont - #rustic #wedding #destination #venue
If you are considering any of these ideas for your upcoming nuptials, I have the dream wedding location for you today. In January I was invited to a weekend away in Vermont along with several other wedding bloggers, planners and photographers. The location? Riverside Farm and Amee Farm Lodge . . . gorgeous wedding venues that are nestled in the heart of the Vermont Green Mountains in Pittsfield, VT and less than 10 minutes from Killington Resort. The hospitality and atmosphere at both of these locations is unlike anything I have experienced. The one word that keeps repeating in my head to describe the weekend experience is "magical". I still remember the one wedding I went to with my husband in Vermont and it's one I'll never forget. There's something about a wedding in Vermont with a barn reception. It's beautifully elegant and rustic, and the guests are sure to be relaxed and have an amazing time.

Riverside Farm is New England's most exclusive wedding venue and they only serve 15 weddings a year {the entire weekend is yours in Vermont - they never ever plan more than one wedding per weekend}. During our stay, myself {and my husband and two daughters} were welcomed as guests at the Amee Farm Lodge, which also hosts wedding ceremonies and receptions along with rehearsal dinners and more. A little bit later this morning I will have a post dedicated to our stay there along with a SPECIAL DISCOUNT to Amee Farm Lodge for those that would like to plan a fun getaway with your loved one or friends in Vermont {think Valentine's Day gift}

But, right now, I will share more details on having your dream destination Vermont wedding at Riverside Farm {with even more photos of the venue spaces}.

Vermont Wedding Ceremonies

There's over 700 acres, 3 properties, a "working" farm and 6 barns which lead to an endless list of ideas of where to hold your ceremony. You can consider the barn, a stone room {which reminds me of a wine cellar}, on top of the mountain or even on the golf course. It's sure to be a wedding weekend the bride, groom and their guests will never forget.

Vermont Wedding Receptions

Riverside Farm is a 300-acre manicured property that features two historic post and beam barns that can be transformed into the most spectacular spaces for large dream weddings. Amee Farm Lodge is idea for smaller ceremonies and events of up to 200 people.

All images in the gallery below are courtesy of Jasmine Lee Photography {Jasmine was one of the attendees at the weekend and it was an honor to meet her, not only because she came all the way from sunny California, but because I also featured her Wine Country Wedding on my blog back in 2012.}

Wedding Decorations

You cannot believe the barns and hidden storage areas that hold charming antiques that are at the ready to help decorate your wedding. There's antique tractors, a classic Ford pick-up truck, copper lanterns, wooden farm tables and much more that are all available to help you turn your Vermont wedding into one you and your guests will always remember.

Kids and Weddings

Having kids at your wedding is easy at Riverside Farm. With Joe and Courtney {the venue owners} having children of their own and living on the grounds, there's a play set at the ready. During cocktail hour the parents can enjoy the time with the other adults while the children play and are supervised by local pre-school teachers.

Wedding Guest Lodging

Between the 3 properties owned by Joe and Courtney {Riverside Farm, Amee Farm Lodge and Trailside Inn}, you will have plenty of space for your guests to room and attend all your weekend wedding events. Right on the estate at Riverside Farm, overnight accommodations are available for up to 25 people. On the surrounding properties, another 80+ guests can be accommodated. Unique accommodations include the River Studio, the Caretaker's Cottage, the recently renovated Stables, the stunning Bridal Suite, or the new Groom's Cabin.

Other Events and Activities

While in Vermont, your guests might like to partake in some of the fun area events that are right near the venue spaces. There's hiking, biking {snowshoeing + snowmobiling in the winter months}, gold, yoga, a "working" farm complete with goats and the Original General Store is one spot that is a must-visit.

A Handcrafted Whimsical Barn Wedding in Rhinebeck, NY from Jessica Oh Photography

Happy Friday. I am officially back from the holidays and ready to get 2014 started with some great wedding inspiration. Are you ready? Today, Jessica Oh Photography is here to share with us the super cute whimsical barn wedding of Anthony and Tammy where there's even photos of the bride sitting in a claw foot bathtub applying her lipstick. While the couple lives in Las Vegas, they opted for a rustic barn wedding in Rhinebeck, NY. Their inspiration was from one of Tammy's favorite childhood memories which was having family dinner at her grandmother's house. The bride and groom wanted to create that same festive dining experience for their guests. There was even a dance party in the dirt and a lantern send off at the end of the night. Many hand crafted elements were included throughout the wedding, including the cutest paper mache piggy bank for their cards complete with top hat and bow tie. This pig has got to be the cutest card holder I have ever seen. There was also felt hearts with hand written notes as escort cards and mini bunting.

Barn Weddings : a magical place . . . the new book from Maggie Lord of Rustic Wedding Chic

Have you attended a barn wedding? Are you planning a barn wedding? As Maggie of Rustic Wedding Chic writes in her brand new book Barn Weddings, "A barn is a magical place for a wedding". I have to say . . . I totally agree. One of my favorite weddings I attended with my husband took place in a barn, in Vermont, on a gorgeous fall day. The barn created a cozy feeling and the twinkling lights and hanging chandelier added to the romance of the entire day.

Barn Weddings is an absolute MUST-HAVE reference book if you are considering or already planning a barn wedding. Maggie provides you with an easy to follow guide that walks you through the steps of planning your dream barn wedding with 4 sections based on Styles, Inspiration, Décor, Real Barn Weddings and even Tips from the Pros. Her inspiration section is one of my favorites as it features something that I just LOVE . . . inspiration shoots. Maggie writes that wedding inspiration shoots are the "dreamy building blocks that often help couples define a wedding style and find creative ways to start planning and personalizing their own special day".

When Maggie writes about 'Styles' - she says "each barn is 100% unique". This is so true. And, because of this it makes barns perfect for weddings as you want your wedding day to be 100% unique to you as a couple.

One of my favorite décor tips from Maggie is the idea to bring in the color white. Adding white helps break up the dark wooden framework of the barn. It also adds a bright weightlessness to the space. Several ways to accomplish this include hanging long white drapes at the barn entrance or using white tablecloths. What is your favorite thing about Barn Weddings?

Real Wedding : Alyssa and Jeff in CA

Today I'm featuring a Barn Wedding from Chelsea Elizabeth Photography. The wedding of Alyssa and Jeff took place at Eucalyptus Lane in Ventura, CA. I love all the details - mason jars filled with flowers and lanterns hanging from the trees, the wooden sign, and the chandeliers in the barn. The barn looks amazing with the draped fabric on the entryway welcoming guests in. And, the bride looks radiant. Anybody else planning a rustic barn wedding?
