Hot Pink Peony Wedding Inspiration and Peony Invitation Ideas

I am in love with the pops of pink in today's featured bridal shoot from Maribel of Eight Tree Street {a member of my vendor guide} and Allison of Allison Hopperstad Photography. Along with this beautiful shoot, I have some great peony wedding invitations to share with you at the end of this post. But, first Maribel shares a bit behind her designs/ideas for this shoot . . .

We love the idea of combining the rustic images of this beautiful working farm with the romance of flowers. For the florals in this Romantic farm styled shoot, we used peonies, the perfect compliment for a spring wedding, and we love these gorgeous hot pink ones. To style the bride with a sweet touch, we included a headpiece of peonies, Faith roses and ferns with small accents of greenery. Model Giovanna was the epitome of spring beauty in her dreamy gown with beaded bodice. With such flowy lines and silhouette, the bouquet we created was one of the things we love . . . a bouquet of texture and pops of color with white and pink peonies, ranunculus and roses wrapped in burlap ribbon. Something sweet and delicate, but still rustic and romantic!

If you are a DIY bride, you can see that a little goes a long way, just a few peony blooms with other rich textures and you have a gorgeous bouquet for your wedding day.

An Urban Chic "Love is Brewing" Wedding Styled Shoot in a Coffee Shop

The inspiration for this fun urban chic shoot {that is filled with the amazing florals from Maribel of Eight Tree Street} came from the idea that many of us fall in love over a cup of coffee. Many first dates are often at local coffee shops where you chat for hours getting to know each other and then ultimately … fall in love. The details from this shoot mix rustic with urban which is the perfect mix for a snack bar, coffee bar or brunch reception. The color palette consisted of grey, pink, terra cotta, peach and hints of copper. One of the flowers Maribel incorporated was "coffee break" roses in the dark terra cotta color. There's even a fun and easy DIY included . . . The Mr and Mrs coffee cup set. A couple of mugs were found at a local home goods shop and chalkboard decals were applied for the Mr and Mrs to be written on in a chalkboard paint pen. Now, for all the gorgeous details and the great idea of the bridesmaid wearing a denim button down shirt with a navy blue skirt . . .

A Midwinter Night's Dream Styled Wedding Shoot {a unique twist on A Midsummer Night’s Dream}

Today's styled shoot is a fun twist on "A Midsummer Night’s Dream". Katie, the wedding planner of Katie Rose LLC says that when she was growing up, she loved William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream". She wanted to take the play and show how the fairies would celebrate during Midwinter. Katie writes . . . "In a season marked by dreary grays and barren branches, Titania, Queen of the Fairies, radiates in the stark landscape. We took a time often thought to be ugly and dead and created beauty and vitality."

Katie discusses the ideas behind this photo shoot . . . "The Woodsman’s wife provided antlers as our nod to the playful Puck. Using a rectangular table is the perfect opportunity to have something as bold as the stunning floral garland bringing more life into the scene. We wanted to tie in many rustic and natural elements in an elegantly formal place setting to show that they can be used in more ways than the typical farm table. Our color scheme centers around lavender and slate blue. To brighten our look, we used copper as a highlight." With wineries being a popular venue throughout the DC region, the team used the vines as a backdrop to showcase the amazing views.

Katie now invites you to join Titania and Oberon as they welcome Theseus and Hippolyta for a night of revelry and mischief in a Midwinter Night’s Dream.

Wedding flower trends are constantly evolving into new and beautiful design ideas. Colors, flower varieties and designs for bouquets, arrangements, centerpieces and wedding decor will vary according to the wedding theme and colors . . . from simple and elegant, to eco-chic, to rustic and glamorous. Going into 2014 we see some similar variety in trends when compared to what we have seen this year. This will include tons of color along with blush, pinks, champagne and whites, accented by stylish touches. All of this will fit a more personalized, unique and one-of-a-kind look to complement each bride.

Here are a few of our favorite bouquets and flowers. You will also be able to see how the colors and themes create new trends which will continue into the new year . . .

Number 1: Romantic Looks and Delicate Colors

If you are looking for a vintage heirloom look with a sweet romantic flair . . . add garden roses, ranunculus and peonies to your wedding flowers. Peonies in blush pinks, white and reds make gorgeous bouquets and add a fabulous addition to your wedding centerpieces. They make a statement by themselves or when grouped with other wedding flowers. To supplement these fabulous blooms, consider adding in lisianthus, stock, scabiosa flowers (available in purple, burgundy, white and pink) and sweet peas. They will create a bouquet that is delicate and delightfully scented. Spray roses are always available and you can get them in a variety of colors throughout the year. They offer a great complement to shabby chic wedding decor.

Number 2: Bold, Beautiful and Modern

Touches of color can be achieved with hints of ranunculus, poppy flowers, dahlias, freesias and anemones.
 • Ranunculus come in a variety of pinks, purples, orange and white.
 • Add anemones to the mix for a bloom that is cheerful and complements a sophisticated design with clean lines and an urban look.
 • Dahlias, perfect for summer and fall weddings, come in delicious pinks, oranges and purples. Burgundy Dahlias are perfect for the fall season, and the much sought-after Cafe au Lait Dahlia is the most perfect and inspiring bloom for a blush bouquet.
 • Freesias were a hit in 2013 and we hope they continue in 2014, as they not only bring a delicate scent as an accent flower, but they also add a splash of color to your wedding day with purple, bright yellow, red, hot pink and white.

Number 3: Eco Chic and Organic Looks

A wonderful variety of plants and flowers can be added to create a wedding bouquet that boasts a fresh look and an eco-friendly design. Include succulents, air plants, proteas, berries, scabiosa pods, clemantis and helleborus for a design that is both exciting and truly unique. In the fall, you can add celosia (cockcomb) in gem colors for additional texture to your bouquets.

Number 4: Exciting new color ideas

The color predictions for 2014 include a variety of blues in all shades. Numerous flowers including delphinium, agapanthus and nigella flowers add fabulous blue accents to wedding flowers. It's a look that fits with a country chic, rustic and vineyard wedding design. Anemones also come in a decadent blue purple which is the perfect complement for a winter wedding or a bohemian chic design.

A Vintage Inspired Floral Wedding Photo Shoot in Blue & Green

I was thrilled when Maribel of EightTreeStreet asked me if I would like to design a wedding invitation and corresponding paper goods for a photo shoot. I couldn't say no to having the chance to design something fresh with a vintage look in the hot summer color trends of blue and green. So here is the beautiful floral summer shoot with a hint of vintage style that was inspired by my paper creations . PS: the paper goods are available for purchase in my etsy shop, including the lily of the valley invitation and forget me not place cards
