Green Moss Wedding Ideas

There's something so beautifully natural about using moss with your décor - especially for spring and summer events. Loving these ideas I came across. What is your favorite use of moss?

1. A moss monogram is perfect for the entrance to your ceremony or reception {can then be re-used after the wedding on your own front door} {from The Magnolia Company}

2. Moss as a centerpiece - a great alternative to flowers and makes a lovely low centerpiece for easy conversation {from Martha Stewart}

3. A moss tiered cake makes another great centerpiece and a great conversation starter too {from Pretty Little Weddings | photo by Tonya Joy}

4. Moss used on birch chargers is super clever {via Bronze Budget Bride}

5. Moss covered table numbers - hang them from an elegant branched centerpiece with beaded garlands and candles {from Camlie Inc}

6. Grapevine hearts covered in moss - perfect for entrance ways as well as décor on the backs for chairs {from Teresa's Plants and More}

4 Easy Spring Ideas for Table Decorations : perfect for Easter too

Loving these fun ideas from Better Homes and Gardens for your spring and Easter table décor.

Pastel Flower Bouquet with Eggs in a Vase: Simply place a clear drinking glass or thin vase in the center of a wide jar or larger vase and then stack eggs between the glass and the jar. You don't have to use real eggs either - there are so many choices at the craft stores - from plastic to fabric and even those paper maché ones are perfect for this. The flowers used in this arrangment include roses, gerbera daisies, tulips, hyacinth, and bells of Ireland.

Floral Centerpieces in Take-Out Boxes: This idea is brilliant and looks amazing. Using decorative take-out boxes that you can find at craft stores - simply arrange your flowers inside of them. I would suggest placing a smaller glass vase inside the boxes to be sure it is waterproof.

2-Tiered Easter Egg Centerpiece: Egg-filled nests look beautiful when displayed on a 2-tiered dish for a pretty and easy to make centerpiece.

Painted Easter Egg "Place Card": These hard-boiled eggs will let your guests know where they are sitting when their monogram is hand-painted on them. For a sophisticated look, you can place the egg with a sprig of white flowers on top of a colored napkin that matches your party colors.

Unique Spring Ideas : Decorating with Vegetables

When I came across these ideas on Better Homes and Gardens the other day I couldn't wait to share them with you. They are so unique and SUPER clever. I love the idea of decorating with vegetables.

Radish Tied to a Napkin: Simply fold a radish or even a carrot in to a napkin and tie the bundle together with twine for a rustic look or a ribbon of your choice for a more elegant look.

Brussel Sprout Topiary: Start with a 15" foam cone and fill a soup tureen, vase or planter with foam. Then pin or hot glue the cone to the foam base. Use long T-shape pins to attach the brussel sprouts to the foam cone - start at the bottom and the pin the sprouts as close together as you can. Any open areas can be filled with sphagum moss. You can also add more moss around the base of each cone. Unrefrigerated, these topiaries will last several days to a week.

Vegetable Lined Floral Vases: Carrots and lettuce look so unique when arranged around the inside of a wide vase. To keep them propped up - simply place a smaller vase inside the larger one and line the veggies in between.

The cutest yellow flower : billy buttons or billy balls for weddings

I recently designed a wedding invitation and other paper goodies for an upcoming photo shoot with an illustration I did of the fun yellow flower known as billy buttons or billy balls {aka: craspedia}. I thought today it would be fun to share with you lots of inspiration for using the flower that resembles the sun and just makes me smile. One common theme I found was that billy balls are often paired with succulents and I have to say, it's an amazing look. I also like seeing the flower paired with the unexpected - like the bouquets with pink and purple flowers or the chevron pattern. What's your favorite pairing?

Eye Candy Friday : v104 {not your ordinary strawberry cake}

Today's Eye Candy Friday is a bit different - not only is it showcasing a not so ordinary strawberry cake, but I also have the DIY tutorial for you to recreate this beautiful centerpiece, which is the perfect décor for spring and summer weddings. It's also a great way to take your wedding inspiration from the season's freshest fruit, strawberries. Don't you just LOVE the baskets brimming with fresh strawberries?

The above Driscoll’s Strawberry Tablescape and "Wedding" Cake was created by entertaining expert Tara Wilson and the "cake" adds color, height, vibrancy and a bit of sophisticated whimsy to the wedding decor. Not only are the fragrant, sweet berries with their deep red hue are memorable, fresh and vibrant, they are also perfect for guests to enjoy Strawberry

Tablescape and Strawberry Cake

Items Needed for Strawberry Cake
(6) round Styrofoam wreaths in (3) graduated sizes (12”, 8”, 4”)
(1) bag of floral pins or cleats
(2) bolt of red ribbon
(3) flats of Driscoll’s strawberries
(1) cake stand
Cutting knife

Steps:
1. Wrap each of the wreaths with the red ribbon, making certain that none of the Styrofoam is visible.
NOTE: if the ribbon is too thick it will be challenging to push the pins through. Selecting a ribbon that is not tightly woven will make this process easier.
2. Attach the (2) largest wreaths together using the floral cleats to form the base of the cake.
3. Remove the stems of each Driscoll’s strawberry, making sure to create a clean even cut. Then cut each berry in half length wise.
4. Begin to cover the outer edges of the (2) largest wreaths with berries in a circular pattern until outer ring is covered.
5. Attach the (2) medium sized wreaths together using the floral cleats to form the second layer of the cake.  6. Repeat steps 3 and 4.
7. Attach the (2) smallest wreaths together using the floral cleats. This will form the top layer of the cake.
8. Repeat steps 3 and 4.

Event Designer and Entertaining Expert, Tara Wilson, tied a small red ribbon around the center of the strawberry cake to complete the look. The Driscoll’s Strawberry cake served as the centerpiece for this spring wedding tablescape.
