Courvoisier Sidecar

Ingredients:
2 parts Courvoisier® VSOP cognac
1/2 part lemon juice
1/5 part sugar syrup
1/2 orange liqueur

Directions:
Place all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake hard for a short time.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

A Real Wedding by Mary Dougherty Photography

Carli and Dan crafted a wedding day that was simply an extension of themselves and filled the event with thoughtful touches and a unique timeline that allowed guests to enjoy the evening at their leisure. The color palette of pinks, white and grey was simple and perfectly elegant for their summer wedding.

The bride and her bridesmaids got ready at her parent's home in Auburn, New York while the groom and his groomsmen were in a nearby lake house. Don't you just love the bride's one shoulder Lazarro wedding dress? Cali's bridesmaids wore a variety of styles of Watters dresses in grey that suited their taste and personality.

For the reception, several dinner stations were set up for guests to visit and enjoy at any point in the evening. In between the eating, guests could stop and talk or hit the dance floor for as long as they liked. The table numbers for each guest was placed on bottles of raspberry lemonade which the guests picked up upon arrival and could be enjoyed immediately.

Before I get into today's first post I have to share something with you. I am beyond excited about it as it required some programming in the backend and I was able to get it working all on my own. Ready??? You can now easily pin any of the blog images you see with one click - if you mouse over any image, you will see a Pinterest "P" pop up in the lower right corner - simply click that and you are on your way to pinning away anything you wish. LOVE IT!!!!

Now, onto today's first post which features some pretty darn amazing black and grey wedding cakes. This color combo has been popping up in my pinterest feed for the past couple of weeks now, so I had to share them with you. Which ones are your favorites? Would you serve a cake like this at your wedding? I love how some of the darker ones can be super dramatic - yet they are each so elegant. The only downside is that I've heard black is one of the frosting colors that is a bit "stain like" on lips and teeth. I've never had a cake like this, so I can't say for certain other than that I wouldn't mind giving them a taste test. You can see many more wedding cakes here.

Today we head back to one of my favorite inspiration boards for the winter months that I created earlier this year. Today I have a few new ideas that I've come across that are perfect additions to this pink and grey winter wedding. You can see all of my pink and grey wedding inspiration on pinterest. This inspiration board features lots of handmade items in one of my favorite color palettes - pink and grey. For this wedding I envisioned warm textures including yarn and even nice cozy leg warmers in coordinating colors for the bridesmaids. And, for dessert... why not have one cake that is the focal point like this one with the bunting and then have other homemade cakes surrounding it? What is your favorite element in the board?

Today's wedding comes to us from the lovely Madeline's Weddings and Events in Canada and features the gorgeous pink and grey wedding of Tracy and Russell. Madeline's took care of all the décor, stationery, their signature candle treatment, and even the fabulous candy buffet. The reception featured beautiful charcoal pintuck linens with rose pink runners on the tables and candy buffet.
